We held our second Meeting of the Municipalities Network for Zero Deficit and strengthened local housing management!
More than 28 municipalities and 50 attendees from across the country participated in this event focused on urban planning and reducing the housing deficit.

The Municipalities Network for Zero Deficit, launched just over a year ago -and already including 52 municipalities from Arica to Puerto Montt- held its second meeting, bringing together housing teams from more than 28 municipalities nationwide. During this event, workshops and presentations were conducted on crucial topics such as urban planning, the link between housing policies and land use, and sharing experiences. Additionally, international experiences in local housing management were discussed, along with the exchange of learnings and best practices to strengthen housing capacities.
Distinguished international guests such as Elisa Rocca, General Director of Affordable Housing at IVC-MDHyH and co-founder of Cohabitar Urbano Asociación Civil, and Pablo López, Housing Coordinator at the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), enriched the meeting with their perspectives and knowledge.
The main objective of this meeting was to strengthen housing management in local governments and consolidate relationships among network members, creating a space for learning and collaboration that will contribute to reducing the housing deficit in the country.
According to María Paz González, thanks to this meeting, "the housing teams were able to learn about successful experiences in territorial planning and shared knowledge that will allow them to work on strategies that address the needs of those living in the municipalities where they work."
About the Network:
The Municipalities Network for Zero Deficit works under four key action lines:
- Local housing initiatives: Implementation of housing solutions tailored to the specific needs of each municipality.
- Cooperation and alliances: Creating a community of support and technical collaboration among local governments, Zero Deficit, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Knowledge promotion: Enhancing the capacities and knowledge of municipal teams through the exchange of experiences and the technical support of Zero Deficit and collaborators.
- Advocacy: Strengthening the voice of local governments in the development of public proposals and opening spaces for dialogue with central and regional levels.
The network offers its members a range of benefits at no cost, including technical support, mentoring, knowledge management, seminars, conferences, skills transfer, online meeting platforms, visibility, and the possibility of establishing alliances with national and international organizations.
Working together, the member municipalities of the Municipalities Network for Zero Deficit are taking significant steps towards more effective housing management and reducing the housing deficit in our country.
